Different Types of Terrace doors

A door is an important entity for every building and house. Doors are meant to provide security and safety to the building and the people living inside it. They allow or restrict the entry and exit of people into or from a building. Different types and designs of terrace doors are available in the market. The size of the door, the material used for its manufacture, design etc. also varies according to its application. Some of the most important types of doors are mentioned below:

Slab doors

The slab terrace doors are the most common types of doors used. They are applicable for use in all types of buildings like houses, offices, schools, hotels etc. A slab door is a rectangular piece of some materials like wood, composite material, metal etc.

Such doors are made and used in a number of standard dimensions. They are fixed using hinges that allow the doors to swing in two directions for opening and closing. Various designs can also be incorporated in these types of doors, which increase their attraction and looks.

Sliding patio door

The sliding patio door is one of the important types of terrace doors used. It usually contains about two to four large panels of glass. They are fixed horizontally in the lower and upper tracks. The panels glide through the tracks to open and close the entrance. The rollers fixed on the panels make the working of the door easier. Such types of doors are used in applications where large openings are required to the exteriors of a building. Showrooms, resorts, hotels etc. use these types of doors.

Screen door

The screen terrace doors are a type of exterior door used for specific applications. It is used along with another solid type of door. The main function of a screen door is to allow the flow of air into the interiors mainly during warm weather. It also helps in preventing pests and other small creatures from entering the room or the house. It is made by fixing a metal screen on a wooden or metal panel.

Pocket doors

These are a type of doors which are made to slide into an opening or into a pocket made in the wall. They can be used in rooms or places where the availability of space is very scarce. They help save space and are built with solid materials like glass or wood. Pocket doors are mostly designed to use in the interiors of houses, offices etc. They also used as exterior doors of large sizes in industries.

Bi ? fold doors

It is a type of door with a number of panels. The panels are folded one above the other for opening. A lower and upper track enables the sliding of the doors. Bi-fold doors are available with side and center openings. The bypass door is a type in which panels are made to slide behind each other. Both of these doors are used for saving space and are mainly designed for storage rooms.
